Feeding off of your plan, the next step is to take action. Sitting around thinking about your plan is going to get you nowhere. Take what you have formulated, look at your goals and strive to achieve them.

Coaching Volleyball can be very demanding at times and sometimes overwhelming. Expectations are higher from the people as well as the volleyball players. Players expect you have all the answers all of the time.

So, ultimately it gets tougher for coaches to deliver what is expected of them.

Players are enthusiastic and have all the energy in the world at the start of a season, but as the season progresses, coaching volleyball gets tougher. Its the Coaches job to keep the team inspired.

Practices should be made a fun and not just a repeat of the day before. The Coach needs to mix it up as much as possible.

A Volleyball Player generally is exhausted and their focus tends to be not quite as strong towards the end of the season. Here are some tips for Coaching Volleyball that can make a difference and turn practices into a fun filled learning experience.

During warm ups take the initiative and get involved and work out with the Players

The initial step of the day’s work for players is the warm up. If that starts on a low note, it is not a good sign, which invariably is the case. Even though warm-ups are a routine, they can still be dealt with, a bit
more artistically. There can even be simple games instead of just getting up and running laps or getting yourself stretched. Dodge ball and freeze-tag can be such options.

Tag and Freeze

This is a simple game, where a Player takes the responsibility of tagging all the other Players. Once that Player touches another, they are tagged. It means that they need to freeze and stand spreading their legs broad.To unfreeze, another player has to dive between the legs of the frozen player. The game goes on this way until all the Players have been tagged. This is really a good exercise as it trains and conditions the Players at the same time with running and diving.

Dodge This

This is another interesting exercise that gets the Players pumped up. The Team is divided into group of two. They stand opposite each other and each Team has the task of hitting members of the opponent Team.

Once a Player gets hit or his throw is caught by the opponent he or she is sent to jail, which is the area behind the opponent Team’s zone. He or she can then free themselves by grabbing the ball and striking a player of opposite team. This exercise increases your reflexes and helps sharpen your all round skills.

Ideas for the future

Goals should be set by the Players as well as by the Volleyball Coach about how the team should perform. Proper planning and goal setting are a must. Each player should write down 3 issues that he or she thinks should be done for the betterment of Team. This way they feel more involved and there are more ideas to shape the Team. Team goals can then be worked on accordingly.

In summary a Coach that involves the Players in the decision process of setting goals and actually engages during practices has a much better chance of taking his or her Team to the Championship game!

If you have mastered beginner and intermediate Volleyball Camp you may be ready for an advanced Volleyball Camp. An advanced camp requires more strength and flexibility then a lower level camp and you want to be sure that your body and skill level is ready for this. An advanced camp will push your body to another level and you want to make sure that you have the training needed to take it to this next level.

When you sign up for an advanced camp you want to make sure that you do not hold the practices back because that is exactly what you will do if you are not ready for that level of play and training.

When you take an advanced Volleyball Camp you may find that you become stronger after every workout session. You will be pushed very hard in this type of camp and this can help you to increase your strength and flexibility even further. If you are looking for a challenge then this is what an advanced camp should offer you. If you feel as though you are not being challenged you may want to speak with your Volleyball Coach and see if there are any things you can do to help give yourself a challenge.

You will want to practice at home also. This will help you build strength and you will learn things faster. If you practice at home you will be ready for your next camp and you will not have to worry about falling behind. Volleyball is all about building upon the next skill and it is important to master all of the things you learn and this can be done with a lot of practice.

Vertical Jump Workouts

If you are looking to increase your vertical leap there are two muscles in particular you will need to focus on; quadriceps and calves. Of course you can benefit from increasing the strength in all of your leg muscles but those two muscles in particular will give you the strength and power needed to jump out of the gym.

There are a number of stretches, exercises, jumps, and lifts you can perform in order to develop these two muscles. Keep in mind you want to build strength and quickness in order to increase your vertical leap. Too much muscle can actually slow you down and decrease your vertical leap which is why it is imperative you throw some quickness drills in as well.

To start lets go over some of the exercises and lifts you can include in your vertical jump workouts for each muscle. Squats and lunges are terrific as both exercises will work out each of the two muscles along with other muscles in your leg as well. If you do not have access to a gym or machines wall sits can get the job done as well. All you have to do is lean with your back against the wall and squat down to a 90 degree angle. Hold this position for as long as you can and you will feel the burn.

For calves in particular calf raises are always effective. Stand on a stair with your heels hanging over the edge and lift up with your toes. Then lower back down and rise back up with your toes again. You can repeat this as many times as you would like.

As soon as you begin to build strength and muscle in your leg muscles next you want to improve your quickness and speed. There are several ways to improve your speed while working out the quads and calves.

The first exercise to consider is simply running the 40. This is a short sprint and will help improve your overall quickness. Next get a ladder that is intended for working out and do different drills running through the ladder and side to side.

The last exercise to enhance your speed is box jumps. Get a box that is around 2 to 3 feet high depending on how tall you are. What you want to do is jump up onto the box and land softly. Then jump back down and back up as quickly as possible to help speed up your vertical jump.

When it comes to getting the best results from your vertical jump workouts you need to focus on two muscles and two facets. As long as you work out your quads and calves while improving strength and quickness you will be well on your way to adding inches to your vertical leap.

A Powerful Serve

The best way to put the pressure on the opposing team is by attacking and nothing is more devastating than a phenomenal Serve. Even the best teams have a hard time defending an outstanding Serve. If a team is good enough at the service, the opponent cannot win. In the game of volley ball, service is the key. And service is the only fundamental that is 100% under your control. A great Serve can win a game for your team just like bad serving can lose the game for you.

Tips to optimize service form:

(1)Elbow: Whenever you are serving, keep one thing in mind on your elbow position. You need to keep your elbow high, when you swing your arm. That will help the chances of the ball clearing the net.

How to measure that your elbow is high enough?

Whenever you pull your elbow down before you toss the ball, you can stop and try to look below your elbow. Your elbow should never be lower than your ear.

(2) Toss: The second most important thing while serving is, tossing the ball. If you have not been able to toss the ball perfectly, there is no chance of serving well. So, it is very important that you toss the ball the exact same way every time.

Here are some points to remember while tossing the ball.

• Practice the toss by keeping the ball safe in the palm of your hand.
• Toss should be 2 to 3 feet high in the air.
• Your arm should be completely extended in front of you and needs to be straight enough.
• Keep your weight on your back foot until you are ready to start your arm swing.
• You should practice tossing the ball over and over again. The ball should fall six to eight inches in front of your foot.
• Use your front foot toe as a guide.
• You have to keep your body balanced.

(3)Face Your Target: Set your body in a manner that it helps you while serving. If you choose to serve down the line, you have to square the shoulders and the hips, set straight your toe and toss the arm down the line. It will not help you, if you attempt to cover or hide where you want to serve during the service. If you try to make the other side fool by improper positioning of your body to misguide them, the loss would be more to you than them. This is because your action may result in a bad service or you may not be able to pass the ball over the net effectively.

There are many ways you can persuade coaches and scouts to get what you want. But sometimes it becomes really hard to make Coaches listen to what you have to say and win them over to your side. Today more and more people are skeptical of other people’s intentions and it makes them not want to trust people easily.

There are keys that you have to remember before you can get a Club Team to give you something you want. Remember Club Volleyball coaches have the teams best interest at heart. You have to get past the walls of their skepticism.

Building credibility is the first thing that you should do in order to make a believer out of your possible future Coach. Give them evidence of your accomplishments.

To build credibility you can use a previous Coaches Letter of Recommendation. Use what they say to your advantage. Coaches dislike negativities and in order for them to trust you stress the positive aspects in what you are trying to say. Present your future Coach with benefits and advantages that are realistic because the more feasible your arguments are the more they will trust in what you have to say.

Provide concrete proof because seeing it rather than hearing it is what will win them over. Find evidence that will support your cause or back up with you are saying. Presenting them with proof will erase any doubts they may have.When you can show them proof you make them think that you know what you are doing and you are not simply posing and pretending like you are the expert on these things.

Just make sure that you always stick to the truth. Do not falsify evidence or make up things in order to convince the Coach because that will not do you good in the long run. You might think that you can get away with it but there is always the risk of running into someone who knows better and the last thing you need is another person or Coach contradicting your presentation.

Make sure that you are indeed credible and reliable as what you present yourself to be. This is the first step into winning Club Volleyball Coaches over. If you have the talent they need, it will get you what you want.

Volleyball History

Where It All Began

Volleyball history began in a town called Holyoke, Massachusetts in 1895. The sport was developed at the YMCA by William G. Morgan as an alternative for older men because it was less strenuous than basketball which was a popular sport at the time. In the beginning there was no limit to the number of players on a team.

Originally Morgan called the sport Mintonette. The game used a tennis net and shared combined aspects of handball, and tennis. The net was set just slightly higher than the average man’s head 1.98m or 6’6”.
The skill, set and hit (or spike) were first developed in the Philippines in 1916 and changed the way the game was played forever.

Later they changed the name of the sport to Volleyball due to the fact that players “volleyed” the ball back and forth, the sport was embraced by the US military and was played often in their free time. Soldiers stationed all over the world played Volleyball and taught the locals to play as well.

Volleyball became so popular it spread all over the world from country to country.

Volleyball was first played indoors, but it was brought out to the beach sometime in the 1920’s. There is some debate about where the first Beach Volleyball game was played, but the two most likely theories are Santa Monica, CA and The Outrigger Canoe Club in Hawaii. Organized beach tournaments were played as early as 1948, but the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) was not born until 1983.

Indoor Volleyball was added to the Olympics in 1964. Beach Volleyball was added as an exhibition sport in 1996 and immediately became the hottest sport at the games. Volleyball is one of the most popular sports in the world today.
